TAIPEI -- KKday, a Taiwanese travel e-commerce platform, launched a bus tour around Taipei for "Pokemon Go" fans on Sunday, helping them hunt for small fictional creatures known as Pokemon.
Although nearly 1,000 fans registered interest in the tour, only 14 were given the opportunity by drawing lots to ride the bus, according to Chen Yi-chien, a KKday sales representative.
The bus was equipped with free Wi-Fi and USB chargers so players could charge up as they travel around the city searching for Pokemon and also with lure modules, a type of chip in "Pokemon Go," that players can use at a Pokestop to increase Pokemon spawn rates, Chen added.
A total of 940 people registered for the five-hour bus tour during the application period between Aug. 11 and 13.
The 14 who were selected to catch the bus departed from Taipei Main Station and traveled through Xinyi District, the Taipei Songshan Tobacco Plant, Dalongdong in Datong District, Machangding Memorial Park in Wanhua District and Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.
During the tour, travel author and "Pokemon Go" player Hsu Chieh served as a guide explaining the highlights of various tourist destinations in the city and gave a briefing on the history of the Pokemon world.
