Growth-minded Sabre GLBL Inc. is infusing $37 million in capital investment that will create a minimum of 500 new jobs in the travel sector.
WESTLAKE, TX -- State officials on Wednesday lauded the expansion of Sabre GLBL Inc. in the Solana development in Westlake, a $37 million capital investment move that is expected to create at least 500 news jobs.
Sabre is the leading technology services provider to the global travel industry. Its lines of business include the Travel Network that connects hotels, airlines and other travel suppliers with corporate and leisure travel agents and related services, officials said.
The state government provided the company with a $5 million grant to aid in the expansion, according to the governor's office.
“Texas is a global destination for world-class enterprises seeking a business-friendly environment,” Gov. Greg Abbott said in a prepared statement. “I am proud Sabre is continuing to invest in the Lone Star State by expanding their corporate headquarters and creating hundreds of new jobs for hard working Texans. As governor, I will continue to pursue policies that allow companies like Sabre to expand and thrive in the State of Texas.”
Sabre CEO Tom Klein added that the corporate expansion will help raise the state's profile as a travel destination.
“Sabre is proud to call Texas home and our Solana campus generates visits from travel industry executives across the globe who leave with a greater appreciation for the business opportunities in Texas,” Klein said in a prepared statement. "We are grateful for the state’s support of our growth plans as we work to create more great jobs and opportunities.”
Westlake Mayor Laura Wheat, meanwhile, was thrilled with the news.
“Westlake is very excited to share in this announcement of Sabre GLBL Inc.’s decision to expand in our town!" she wrote. "We are honored by Sabre’s selection of Westlake as the location for this very significant corporate expansion."
She noted the company was but the latest to have recognized the currency of locating in Westlake for its business hub in the thriving Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
“Sabre is now one of several top-echelon companies who have chosen to become a part of our community fabric, thus making the Town of Westlake a key employment center for this part of the DFW Metroplex," the mayor said. "We extend a warm welcome to Sabre and all of its employees who will soon be working in Westlake - an oasis of natural beauty set amidst an ever expanding urban landscape.”
Tarrant County Commissioner Gary Fickes was similarly thrilled, expanding in positing the expansion as a milestone in developing Westlake as a key corporate hub.
“Tarrant County is very proud to share in the announcement of Sabre GLBL Inc.’s decision to expand its operations in the Town of Westlake and NE Tarrant County,” Fickes said. “This expansion in Westlake will enhance their presence in Tarrant County and bring many new high-level jobs to the area. An organization like Sabre who has a proven record of community involvement and corporate success is another reason that Westlake and NE Tarrant County has become the premier location to live and work in the Metroplex.”
