We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – travelling is the ultimate wonder drug. It helps you live longer, it makes you better at your job, and it will even make you happier in the long run.
But if you needed any more convincing… According to Priceline.com’s recent “Traveler’s Sweet Spot” survey on travelling, more than half of respondents said that travelling improves their attitude more than exercise or shopping.
As far as which trips are best for boosting moods, the survey found that romantic getaways top the list among men (38 per cent) and women (34 per cent). And ditch the jokes about stressful weekends with the family – 33 per cent of all respondents said family visits boost their mood the most, followed by trips with close friends (23 per cent).
Priceline.com found that its customers have similar priorities. Ninety-one percent are travelling to see friends or family – often when something is on the line (cue the wedding, baby shower and reunion).
The survey also revealed that short getaways are just as effective as long trips, in fact, four out of five Americans surveyed would rather take multiple, short getaways than one long holiday each year.
"Research tells us that 44 per cent of Americans frequently regret not being able to go on more trips, and the majority are not booking these trips due to travel costs," said Brigit Zimmerman, senior vice president of Air and Vacation Packages for priceline.com.
So, what are you waiting for? Tick something off that bucket list.
